Porter: Expect WR Bryce Treggs To Make An Impact

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Eagles rookie wide receiver Bryce Treggs will be active on Sunday vs. the Giants.

The Eagles released wide receiver Josh Huff on Thursday, following his arrest earlier in the week. However, Eagles coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Friday that Treggs was going to play this week before Huff's release. Now, he could see a slightly bigger workload.

Treggs, 22, was signed by the Eagles this summer after he was released by the 49ers. Treggs spent four seasons at the University of California where he caught balls from No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff.

In four seasons at Cal, Treggs -- who went undrafted -- caught 195 passes for 2,506 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a senior, the 5'10", 185-pound receiver with 4.44 speed recorded an elite 21.1 yards per reception, which ranked eighth in the FBS.

Huff, 25, only had 13 catches for 72 yards in seven games this season, averaging under two receptions per game.

Despite his lack of experience, Treggs certainly doesn't seem to lack confidence.

"What time do we play on Sunday?" Treggs asked, when pressed if we'll see him catch a deep ball from Carson Wentz. "One? Turn on the game and see what happens."

"The guy can fly. It will be interesting to see," Wentz told reporters of Treggs on Wednesday via NJ.com. "He seems to have picked things up pretty quickly, here. I'm excited for him to get his opportunity."
