Police: Tow Truck Driver Shot in Kensington

A 29-year-old man was hospitalized and in critical condition after he was shot while near his tow truck on Sunday evening.

KYW's Kim Glovas and Al Novack report that it happened near Front and East Silver Streets in Kensington, at about 7:30pm.

Police say the driver of a "Straight Up" truck was shot four times in the back. Friends and neighbors took him to the hospital, where his condition was described as extremely critical.

This witness says the  29-year-old tow operator had been polishing his truck when a gunman approached him and fired several shots:

"When I looked out, the man was running towards Front Street."

Authorities say this incident appears unrelated to recent violence between drivers of two other towing companies.

Police are looking for one or two men who may have left the scene on foot.
