Police Seek Pair Who Mugged SugarHouse Casino Winner In NJ
CINNAMINSON, NJ (CBS) -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding two men who targeted a Cinnaminson man early Saturday morning.
The victim fought off the attackers, who followed him home from the SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia after he'd won $2,000.
The victim ended up at SugarHouse, alone, after a bachelor party broke up. Then he got lucky at the blackjack tables.
Cinnaminson detective William Covert says casino surveillance video shows the victim cashing out, then calling a friend with news of his winnings.
Covert says that around the same time, two men entered the casino and one appears to have overheard the victim. Covert says he motions to his friend and they follow the victim outside:
"They end up actually having a conversation (with the victim) in the parking lot. He stated he approached them to ask where he could get a cab, at which time the actors actually invited him to get in their car and they would give him a ride home, which he declined."
Covert says he found a cab and when he got out in Cinnaminson, he was struck on the head. He looked up to see the men from the casino standing over him with a gun.
But Covert says the victim was able to grab one of them and pull him to the ground. The other tripped over his own long, baggy pants leg. They fled with no money.
If you have any information about the suspects involved in the robbery, please contact the Cinnaminson Police at 856-829-6667, Ext. 22
