Visiting Team's Lockers Rifled During Neshaminy Football Game
The Neshaminy School District and Middletown Township police are investigating reports that several Abington High School football players had personal items stolen from their lockers during Friday night's game.
Abington lost the game. Then, when they went into the locker room, players found that numerous items from cell phones and iPods to cash and even clothing had been swiped from the lockers.
School officials say they're not sure if students or adults, insiders or outsiders, are responsible for the thefts, and they're checking to see if surveillance cameras picked up anything.
Neshaminy superintendent Dr. Louis Muenker says they can't remember anything like this happening in many years:
"We're obviously looking at trying to make this right for the Abington football team and players. We have a laundry list of items that were missing from that evening, and obviously we're looking at shoring up our end to make sure something like this doesn't happen again."
He says the night started off great, as the Abington football team made a donation to help a Neshaminy player who is being treated for leukemia.
