PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police released new video Tuesday night as they search for tire slashers who hit 70 cars in West Philadelphia. The vandalism spree happened early Tuesday morning along Media Street between 54th and 61st Streets.

"I heard these voices coming up and down the street and I heard this loud noise go swish," one resident said.

It was a rude awakening for dozens of West Philadelphia residents who walked out to find their tires had been slashed.

"I just came out to go to the store to get something to eat, and when I looked, the tire was flat," one victim said.

At least 70 vehicle tires were slashed in an overnight crime spree from 54th to 61st Streets. Detectives say there could be more.

Police scoured West Philly businesses in hopes of finding surveillance video that could lead them to the culprits.

"On the 5700 block of Media Street, around 1 a.m., we captured two individuals [on video]," Philadelphia Police Capt. Frank Milillo said. "One wearing all black, one with either a white sweatshirt or white jacket."

Longtime residents say the crime seems to be shifting as the neighborhood continues to grow and change.

"You're trying to build, to work to get to something and here somebody just takes something away that you got to get repaired, and time taken out of your day," resident Reggie Walker said.

It's an unfortunate situation, but police are hoping to make swift arrests.
