Police: Driver Killed In Fiery Crash Following Police Pursuit In Montgomery County
RED HILL, Pa. (CBS/AP) -- State police say a man who led police on a chase in Montgomery County later died after his car slammed into a utility pole.
It happened around 1 a.m. Saturday along the 500 block of Main Street in Red Hill, Pennsylvania.
State police in Montgomery County say Marlborough Township police tried to stop an erratic driver on Route 29, but the man fled at high speed.
Authorities say that man was driving 105 miles-per-hour in a 35-mile-per-hour limit zone.
Township police reported terminating the pursuit but an officer later came upon the vehicle, which had crashed into a pole and caught fire.
State police said the officer tried to help the driver, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His name and other details weren't immediately released.
