Police: Couple Confessed To Beating Fishtown Woman To Death

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –   Neighbors in Fishtown are in shock after a woman known as a fixture in the community was murdered in her own home.

Tonight, police say a couple has confessed to the crime.

The victim, identified as 54-year-old Kathy Wilson, was found badly beaten inside her home located on the 1300 block of Earl Street this morning at around 9:30.

Authorities say 50-year-old James Cheever and 47-year-old Jane Johnson have been charged with murder, robbery and other related offenses.

Authorities say the victim employed both suspects; Johnson to clean her home and Cheever to perform odd jobs.

Police say the motive for the crime was robbery, as $20,000 was taken from the victim.
