Authorities: Police Bike Stolen In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police are asking for the public's help in locating a city-issued police bike that they say was stolen Thursday morning.

According to police, a bike officer parked his bicycle in front of the 7-11 at the unit block of West Girard Avenue while he went inside the store to sign the store log. When the officer left the store, police say his bicycle was no longer there.

Police say the officers went back into the store and viewed the store surveillance video which depicted an unknown male walk up to the bike, get on the bike and allegedly ride through the parking lot and traveled northbound on the 1200 block Leopard Street.

The person is described as a white or Hispanic male approximately 30-years-old, wearing a red t-shirt with white writing, Khaki Shorts and black shoes; he was also carrying a black backpack, according to police.

The police bike is described as a 17", Fuji Mountain Bike.

Anyone with information on the male and/or the whereabouts of the bicycle is asked to contact East Detectives at 215-686-3243 or call 911.
