Police: Arrest Made In Mays Landing Murder

MAYS LANDING, NJ (CBS) --  The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office has announced the arrest of a Galloway Township man for the shooting death of a Mays Landing man Monday night.

Police and emergency crews responded to a home on the 5900 block of Elmhurst Drive in Mays Landing after a 9-1-1 call came in at 7:29 pm.

Upon arrival, police found 31-year-old Michael Black suffering from a gunshot wound. Black was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division, where he was later declared dead.

An autopsy determined cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest, and that the manner of death was homicide.

The investigation by detectives of the Township of Hamilton Police Department and Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit led to the arrest in Galloway Township this morning of 36-year-old Dennis J. Munoz of Theresa Court.

Munoz was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a handgun, and was committed to the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $1,000,000 cash bail.
