23-Year-Old Killed In Fiery Street Racing Crash In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police believe street racing may have led to a deadly crash near the Philadelphia Sports Complex Saturday night. The accident happened on the 600 block of Pattison Avenue just before midnight on Saturday.

Investigators say a 23-year-old man was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Pattison when he lost control near Lincoln Financial Field, struck three trees and then a guard rail. The vehicle became engulfed in flames after striking the guard rail.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time.
