Phils Rookie Worley Enjoying First Taste of The Show

If you think it's fun to watch the Phillies these days as a fan, imagine what its like to watch this run as a rookie who's getting his first taste of the big leagues.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with right-hand pitcher Vance Worley who made his Major League debut during a brief stay with the team back in July. He was brought back up here in September, and he actually picked up his first Major League win in improbable fashion, pitching a scoreless ninth in Sunday's when over Washington when the Phillies scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to steal a 7-6 win:

"I was so excited to get out there and get in that huddle when [Jayson] Werth hit the home run. After I'm walking in some of the guys are like, 'Worley, you got the win! You're a snake!' And I'm like, 'I did, yeah I did get the win.' But it still didn't cross my mind that that was my first Major League win, and that's when some of the other guys said it and congratulated me."

Worley has thrown well in the bigs, to the tune of a 2.57 ERA in three appearances and he says he also has gained invaluable experience:

"Biggest lesson I've learned: work hard, mind your own business and don't talk. It's pretty easy to do."

Worley went 10-7 this season in the minors at Double and Triple-A with a 3.36 ERA.
