Phils lose Back to Back to Back

Frustration sums up the Phils on June 1st, 2010. The bats continued to struggle Tuesday night in a 7-3 loss to the 1st place Braves. Starter Cole Hamels went just 2/3 of an inning due to a lengthy rain delay, but surrendered 3 runs in the 1st inning. Ryan Howard ended the team's 68 inning homerless drought with a 2 run jack in 6th, but grounded out with the bases loaded in the 9th to end the game. Phils out hit Atlanta 10-8, but were just 3 for 10 with runners in scoring position.

Bad fielding also led to Braves runs. An error by Juan Castro, which would have led to a double play, led to 2 Atlanta runs. Jayson Werth misplayed an Eric Hinske single allowing Hinske to advance to 3rd. Pinch runner Gregor Blanco would later score.

That makes 3 loses in a row, 10 of 14. Atlanta now leads the NL East by 1 1/2 games over the Phils. The 9 game divisional road trip wraps up in Atlanta Wednesday afternoon at 1, Kyle Kendrick to get the start.
