Ump Talks With Phils Fans After Controversial Calls

Umpires have made headlines this week for some controversial calls made against the Phillies.

Today, umpire Sam Holbrooke sat down to talk with a select group of Phillies fans.

KYW's Paul Kurtz reports that as he walked to the podium, Holbrooke was playfully booed by about 150 fans taking part in Phillies 101, a day-long baseball camp for women only. No one mentioned Scott Barry, the ump who tossed Ryan Howard on Tuesday night. But Holbrooke was asked about accountability issues.

Student: "Do you guys get graded by your supervisors? Not just on whether you blow a call but sometimes on temperamental issues like throwing a player out inappropriately?"

Holbrooke: "If I have an ejection, guess what I've gotta do? I've gotta call it in, I've gotta type it up, send it in. The lawyers get a hold of it and then start tearing it apart. I don't want that. That's the worst thing."
