Philadelphia College Student Creates Functional Batsuit

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia University student has taken a page out of the comic books --- and decided to make his own Batman suit.

But this isn't just a costume. The suit actually works just like Batman's suit.

With the help of personal donations and a Kickstarter campaign, freshman Jackson Gordon from Wayne, Pennsylvania built a functioning Batman suit for just under $2,000.

It's made out of Kevlar and has armor plating.

"Basically the idea was to create sort of a suit in Batman's image that was not actually just a costume, but actually functioned," said Gordon.

The suit is actually impervious to knives and skid-proof. It's also waterproof, but it's not bulletproof.

Gordon says he's already got many people interested in their own Batman suits.
