PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Chickie's and Pete's is holding a month-long fundraiser in an effort to help students in the Philadelphia schools.
The Philadelphia-based restaurant chain is raising money for City Year, a non-profit that pairs young high school and college graduates with students throughout Philadelphia in some of the neediest schools.
Their work is designed to help the students in and outside of the classroom.
"Our goal in this city, is to reduce the dropout rate," said Pete Ciarrocchi, CEO of Chickie's and Pete's.
Ciarrocchi says during their month-long initiative customers can donate to the check total for their meal or text SCHOOL to 20222 to make an automatic payments of $5 or $10.
"They give one year of their life to teach children how to succeed. We are fortunate to have City Year in the city of Philadelphia," Ciarrocchi said.
