Philadelphia Action Network Attends Opposing Rally in DC

Groups from Philadelphia headed to Washington DC to make their voices heard.

KYW's Hadas Kuznits reports Thera Martin with the Philadelphia Action Network was on the National Mall. She says there are two distinct groups rallying on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's I Have a Dream speech:

"I really can't speak for what the tea party is standing for today or what their real message is gonna be, but it certainly has a different tone than what we're trying to do."

She says her group's message is focused on the future:

"Education has been an undertone of what a lot of the speakers have said today but we also recognize that the dream is not fulfilled and that there's a lot of work yet ahead to do and freedom is not free, we still have to struggle for that."

Martin says the rallies in two separate areas have been peaceful.

Attempts to reach members of the Philadelphia tea party movement at the rally were unsuccessful.
