Police Charge Frankford Man In Deadly Hit and Run

A 39-year-old Frankford man is charged with the hit-and-run death of a woman over the weekend.  Investigators believe alcohol was involved.

Police allege Manuel Albandoz was behind the wheel of a black Ford Taurus when it hit and killed 24-year-old Celina Langen while she was riding her bicycle around 12:15 Sunday morning near the intersection of Adams and Torresdale Avenues.

Witnesses immediately called police and said the car never stopped.  That car was found abandoned short time later, in the 2100 block of Gillingham Street.

Police Lieutenant Frank Vanore credits those calls for helping investigators track Albandoz:

"There was some good work by the public here in helping us because we were not present at the accident, and without those witnesses it would have been a very hard case to solve."

Albandoz is charged with Homicide by Vehicle, DUI and related charges.
