Phila. Bride Fuming After Caterer Skips Out

A Northeast Philadelphia bride-to-be is speaking out after her caterer abruptly shut down six months before her wedding and has so far refused to return her deposit.

KYW's Brad Segall reports that Lyndsay Nickel has been looking forward to her wedding day in December, but that joy turned to stress and anger when she found out that Colleen Weiler of "Arthur's Catering by Colleen," in Southampton (Bucks County), Pa. closed up shop suddenly last month.

Nickel and her fiancé have been trying to track down Weiler to get their $3,500 deposit back, but so far no luck:

"It's kind of been like a big black cloud over everything, and there's been a lot tears and a lot of anger from myself, my fiancé, and our families and just people that have put money out.  And we're just average people."

Nickel has found another caterer and the wedding will go on, but she wants to let other brides know what happened if they booked with the same caterer.

Weiler's web site now says, "It is with great regret that Colleen has had to cease operation as of Monday, June 7th,"  and she is grateful to the "customers who have hosted their events with us."
