PennDOT Asks Drivers To Proceed Cautiously Through Work Zones
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - This week is PennDOT's Work Zone Awareness Week, and the transportation department is urging motorists to use caution when entering a work zone.
In 2010, more than 1,800 crashes occurred in work zones in Pennsylvania and 22 people died in those accidents, including three PennDOT workers and one contractor. PennDOT wants people to know this is National Work Zone Awareness week and motorists should use extreme caution in work zones, this week and every week.
That means slow down in work zones, turn on your headlights, and watch for flaggers and other workers. You should also keep a lot of space between you and the vehicle in front of you, and watch for any signs indicating any road changes ahead. With the weather starting to warm up, expect to see more projects popping up on area roads and highways.
