Overnight Shootings In Camden Under Investigation

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) – Police are investigating a pair of shootings that happened in Camden overnight.

Police say the first shooting happened a little after 7 p.m. on Monday in the 900 block of North 25th Street. The 40-year-old victim, police say, was found sitting in a parked Chrysler Town and Country with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim told police he was shot during a robbery attempt.

The second shooting happened Tuesday morning at about 6:30. Police say a 43-year-old gas attendant at the Citgo station in the 1900 block of Admiral Wilson Boulevard was one of two employees held up by two masked men.

Police say the gas attendant pushed one of the suspects and was then shot by the other in the chest.

The suspects fled toward 19th Street and Admiral Wilson Boulevard.

The victim is in critical but stable condition at Cooper University Hospital.

The man who reportedly shot the victim is described as five feet seven inches tall and weighting about 175 pounds. He spoke in Spanish.

The other suspect is described as five feet five inches tall and weighing about 135 pounds. He is believed to be about 17 years old.
