Firefighters battling blaze in West Philadelphia amid frigid temperatures and icy conditions
Firefighters have placed a blaze at a three-story, multi-use building in the Overbrook Park section of West Philadelphia Monday afternoon under control, according to the city's fire department.
Crews were called out to the fire around 3:45 p.m. Monday near Brookhaven Road and Haverford Avenue.
Chopper 3 was live over the fire, showing firefighters battling the blaze from the ground and an extended ladder amid frigid temperatures and icy conditions.
A fire department spokesperson said the blaze was placed under control around 5:14. p.m. They said about 15 children and staff of a day care in the building were relocated to a nearby library.
No injuries have been reported, the spokesperson said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office.
