Online Reseller Sees Hot Market For Phillies' Playoff Tickets

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Phillies' playoff tickets seem to be the hottest tickets in town.  So how much are they going for?

Joellen Ferrer with StubHub, the official ticket reseller of Major League Baseball, says that when it comes to buying tickets at a decent price or selling for the best profit, there's a delicate balance between supply and demand.

Additionally, she says, those tickets obviously lose their value at some point:

"Tickets are perishable by nature.  And so with that, sellers need to price their tickets competitively."

But she says not everyone is competitive with their pricing:

"Right now the most expensive ticket listing is $5,000 for game 7, but that hasn't sold yet.  and we often see overly optImistic fans list their tickets for prices that are unreasonable.  so in reality those tickets won't actually sell."

So how much are tickets realistically selling for?

"What we've seen is that on average fans have paid about $200 per ticket for game six and then a potential game seven."

Buying or Selling on StubHub: hear the entire interview in this KYW Podcast...

How much would fans pay?  We asked a few:

(Fan #1:)  "$150 each."
(Fan #2:)  "I would probably pay about $500 to be at one of the games."

But not all fans are motivated to shell out the cash for those tickets:

(Fan #3:)  "With the economy the way it is right now, it's more important to pay the bills right now than it is to go to the game.  So I'll probably end up watching it at home."
