One Man Shot; Police Search For Suspect In Burlington City

BURLINGTON CITY, NJ (CBS) -- One man was shot and killed Saturday night in Burlington City, New Jersey. A five year old girl was also injured with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say this happened around 7:30 p.m. at York Street & East Federal Street.

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Byron Turner; he suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead Saturday night and 10 p.m. at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Authorities say the five-year-old girl was injured while retreating from the gunfire, but was not shot. She was treated and released from Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro.

On Sunday investigators identified the shooter as 26-year-old Samuel James. The gunman was charged early Sunday morning with murder and weapons offenses.

Police say the shooter is a fugitive who has been known to stay in Burlington City and Camden.

Police describe the gunman as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing about 140 pounds.
