PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Google just made it possible for you to travel the entire world -- without ever buying an airplane ticket.  Google Earth which has been around for about a decade just got a massive upgrade, and it involves VR googles.  The new and improved google Earth VR allows you to fly over a city, stand at the top of the highest peaks, and even soar into space, in picturesque virtual reality -- never the comfort of your own living room.

According to those creative Google execs, Earth VR comes with hand picked destinations that can send you on the journey of a lifetime through the Amazon, or soaring high above the Manhattan skyline.

Earth VR is available today for free download, but only for the HTC Vive VR headset.
