Man charged with homicide after 3 people found dead inside Northampton Township, Pennsylvania, home

A man was charged with homicide after three people were found dead inside a home in Northampton Township, Pennsylvania, Monday night.

A court document shows Kevin Castiglia, 55, is charged with three counts of homicide, abuse of a corpse and other charges after an hours-long standoff at the Bucks County home. Castiglia was taken into custody Monday night. He was denied bail and is being held at the county jail.

According to the DA's office, Northampton Township Police responded to a home on Heather Road for a well-being check around 2:15 p.m. Monday.

Police were confronted by Castiglia, who was armed with a knife, at the house, the DA's office said. Castiglia was then taken into custody at around 8 p.m., and police found three people dead inside the home. Bucks County officials have not yet released the identities of the people who died at the home.

A neighbor said he saw law enforcement officers break down the door and said it was two to three hours before they got the suspect out of the house.

A county prosecutor is leading the homicide investigation in coordination with Bucks County detectives and Northampton Township police, Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan said.

Khan praised the work of law enforcement during the standoff.

"Despite being confronted by an armed individual under excruciatingly difficult circumstances for roughly five hours in the bitter cold, officers utilized ... every tactical resource available to take the suspect into custody alive, preventing further tragedy," Khan said.

The Bucks County Coroner's Office was expected to conduct autopsies Tuesday, Khan added.

Heather Road was shut down near Second Street Pike for hours Monday as a large police presence responded to the scene.
