NJ Waitress Honors Local Veteran By Paying For His Meal
WILLINGBORO, N.J. (CBS) -- For their service, no kind gesture can be classified as enough when it comes to our veterans. With that said, we should always try our best.
Last month, a local waitress in Willingboro, N.J. extended a kind gesture to a veteran of three wars, that did not go unnoticed.
Kimberly Snodgrass works at Ruby Tuesday in Willingboro. Manuel Knox, a veteran who fought in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, came in one day, as he's done before. On that day, Snodgrass decided to pay for Knox's meal as a showing of gratitude for his service.
"Paying for Mr. Knox is the least I could do for someone that currently serves or has served our country and this gentleman is a three-war veteran. I wanted to thank Mr. Knox for his service," Snodgrass told CBSPhilly.com.
Snodgrass said that Knox thanked her and gave her a hug. She explained that he didn't think that was the only recognition she deserved.
A few days later, Snodgrass learned that Knox had reached out to a local newspaper to share the wonderful story with the masses.
"I was speechless that he contacted the local newspaper and extremely grateful for the recognition that he felt I deserved," Snodgrass said.
She went on to explain that she believes everyone should do their part to honor those who have served. "I cannot speak from a veteran's perspective, but I believe that it is appropriate for everyone to acknowledge those who serve our country in some way."
