NJ Mail Carrier Honored As 52-Year Career Comes To An End

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) — Charles Glanville won't have to worry about battling snow, rain, heat or gloom of night to complete his appointed rounds anymore, unless it's to go to the mall or mow his lawn.

The Sussex County resident delivered his last mail on Thursday after a 52-year career as a carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

Postal officials say Glanville is the longest-serving city mail carrier in New Jersey. He was honored in a ceremony before he went out for his last day.

Glanville, of Wharton, was a letter carrier in Morristown, and on Thursday Mayor Timothy Dougherty proclaimed it Charles Glanville Day.

Glanville began his career weeks before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.
