NJ Investigating Misuse of EZ-Pass at DRPA

The State of New Jersey is investigating misuse of EZ-Passes at the Delaware River Port Authority, and at least one DRPA commissioner is steamed at being kept out of the loop.

Irony alert.

KYW's John Ostapkovich reports early in the nearly 6 hour DRPA board meeting, a resolution was approved to follow open meeting and records laws. By the end, after a 2 1/2 hour closed executive session, board member John Dougherty was steamed that only then had he learned of a subpoena from New Jersey's Attorney General, issued last month.:

"That's the information that the commissioners I've been screaming have been kept out of from day number one and it's something that has to change."

DRPA CEO John Matheussen says he did mention it quietly last Friday.:

"That's not something I would broadcast in a loud clear way but certainly the board has an opportunity to get that information and we provided it to them when we first could."

Neither man whose EZPass records were subpoenaed still works for DRPA. One resigned. The others' job was eliminated at this meeting.
