Police: N.J. Woman On Drugs When She Crashed With Baby In Car

FAIRFIELD, N.J. (CBS)—A New Jersey woman is now behind bars after police say she crash her vehicle while under the influence of prescription drugs with a baby in the car.

The incident happened back on November 10, 2016 on Greenbrook Road in Fairfield, NJ.

Police say Mandee Brady, 38, of West Caldwell crashed her 1997 Mazda into a utility police while a 16-month-old child was a passenger in the vehicle.

Following the crash, it's alleged that Brady handed off the baby to a person who witnessed the crash and then she apparently passed out.

Officers performed CPR on Brady and transported her to the hospital where she was able to recover from her injuries.

The baby was not injured in the accident.

The Fairfield Police Department say they seized various prescription drug bottles containing tablets and other items that indicated the unlawful use of these drugs from the vehicle.

Brady surrendered to police on Tuesday where she is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child, assault by auto, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and while in a school zone.

She remains held on $50,000 bail.
