Mystery Solved Regarding Tsunami Warning Device That Went Off Near NJ Coast
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The mystery of why a tsunami warning device, 200 miles off the coast of New Jersey, went off over the weekend has apparently been solved.
The buoy recorded an 88 foot drop and then a 108 foot rise on Saturday just before 7:00 p.m.
Some people thought it could have been hit by a meteor, or bumped by a submarine.
The National Data Buoy Center says the false readings occurred while it was being serviced.
