Mother Of 5 Killed In Trenton Hit-Run

TRENTON, NJ (CBS) -- Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene after fatally striking a mother of five in New Jersey this past weekend.

The accident happened at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday on Pennington Avenue in Trenton.

According to investigators, Stephanie Jackson, 42, was walking after a night out with friends when she hit by a car and left to die.

The driver of the car, possibly a silver or grey Dodge or Chrysler, did not stop and fled the scene.

A Good Samaritan stopped to help Jackson, but she was pronounced dead at an area hospital about 40 minutes later.

No surveillance video of the accident or the car involved is available, so police and the victim's family are pleading for the public's help.

"If you have a conscience or soul … please turn yourself in," the victim's sister Dawn Jackson said.

Investigators say the vehicle in question would have significant front-end damage, including a shattered windshield.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Trenton Police Department at 609-989-4155.
