Officials: Man In Custody After Barricading Himself Inside Home, Firing At Officers In Bethel Township
BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- A man is in police custody after officials say he barricaded himself inside of a home and fired shots at officers in Garnet Valley. It started around 8:30 p.m. Sunday on the 1500 block of Garnet Mine Road in Bethel Township.
Police negotiated with 46-year-old Terrance Zanchuck for several hours.
"They observed Zanchuck emerge from his residence with a rifle in hand. He stood on his porch staring at the officers. They attempted to get him to surrender the weapon. He refused to do so and he went back in his residence," Delaware County District Attorney Kat Copeland said.
Zanchuck was taken into custody around 2 a.m. Monday.
Approximately 10 homes in the area were evacuated with 15 people taking shelter at the Bethel fire station.
No one was injured.
