Lynne Abraham Plans To Run For Mayor of Philadelphia in 2015

By Mike Dunn

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former Philadelphia district attorney Lynne Abraham will be joining in next year's race for mayor, according to her political consultant.

On the very day that attorney Ken Trujillo announced his run for mayor, political consultant Eleanor Dezzi let reporters know that Lynne Abraham plans to run as well -- although the formal announcement won't come until after the November gubernatorial election.

"She is committed to running for mayor of Philadelphia in 2015," Dezzi told KYW Newsradio today.  "She feels she has the ability and the contacts to move this city forward.  But right now she's not making any formal announcement on this because she's working very hard for Tom Wolf," the Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania governor.

Abraham was the city's first female district attorney, and she served in that post for 19 years.  She joins Trujillo, Terry Gillen, and Milton Street as announced candidates, with others expected to join the fray by year's end.
