Lehigh Fends Off American U, 60-47
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Gabe Knutson scored 18 points as Lehigh held off American University 60-47 Wednesday night to win its fifth straight game and hold onto a share of the Patriot League lead.
The Mountain Hawks (18-5, 8-1), who are tied with Bucknell atop the league standings, have won nine of their past 10 games and snapped the Eagles' two-game winning streak.
Lehigh led by 16 in the second half. After the Eagles came back to tie it at 43 with 6:31 left, the Mountain Hawks closed the game on a 17-4 run.
Anthony D'Orazio matched his season high with 15 points while Mackey McKnight, who surpassed 20 points in his previous two contests, had nine points along with a career-high nine assists.
Stephen Lumpkins had 10 points and 13 boards to lead American (9-15, 4-5), which had a 40-29 rebounding advantage, but was woeful shooting from beyond the arc (5 of 22).
