La Salle, Penn Take To The Court

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Two games on the docket for local college basketball teams Wednesday night.

La Salle will be home, hosting Towson. The Explorers have been struggling as of late, they have lost three straight games to fall to 6-6.

Head Coach Dr. John Giannini says Towson also has endured some rough sledding as of late.

"They've had some struggles themselves, but I think that they remain an offensively talented team. They are not unlike the way that we've been playing lately. They have been scoring some points but like ourselves, they have been giving some points up as well."

Towson comes into this one with a record of just 3-7, but Giannini says the opponent is really secondary for him.

"We're frankly more concerned about ourselves, than Towson. We're coming off a bad week and we are, at this point, more worried about making ourselves better than anything else."

This will be only the second meeting between the two schools all-time. The Explorers won the first one 79-78 back in 1983.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with La Salle's head coach, Dr. John Giannini, about the match-up:

And Penn is on the road Wednesday night visiting Marist. The Quakers are 5-4 on the season and this will be their first game since they beat Delaware back on December 22nd.

Marist is just 2-10, last time out they lost to Holy Cross 75-57. The Quakers and the Red Foxes have never met on the hardwood.

Junior guard Zack Rosen is leading Penn in scoring this season, pouring in 16.9 points a game.
