Lansdowne 5-Year-Old Dies, Struck By Lightning On North Carolina Beach
LANSDOWNE, Pa. (CBS) -- A 5-year-old boy from our area was killed after being struck by lightning on a North Carolina beach.
Stephen Little, of Lansdowne, was struck by lightning in Carova Beach, North Carolina as his family vacationed in the Outer Banks.
Little was a member of the Lansdowne Swim Club.
Eyewitness News has learned that the family was trying to get out of the storm, and into their SUV, when Little was struck.
His parents met an ambulance halfway, but Little was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The National Weather Service says he's the 21st person killed by lightning in the US this year.
At five years old, no victim was younger.
