KYW's Local Legends: Rich Rudin
Temple University music school graduate Rich Rudin founded the Maplewood Music Studio in Germantown in 1980 -- a studio, Rudin says, that's devoted to diversity:
"We have many different teachers teaching many different instruments. We teach students of all different ages in a whole variety of styles. So we mix everything together and it's a beautiful thing."
Rudin established a scholarship fund in the name of his office manager who died in 2009. Two concerts by Maplewood faculty have raised money to provide music scholarships for young people.
"It's been a great thing to be able to offer."
