Kiko Alonso Practicing For First Time Since Knee Injury
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Woah, woah, woah. Look what we have here.
Just one month after Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso suffered an MCL sprain---and what some feared could be a season-ending injury---against the Dallas Cowboys, he was back on the practice field on Wednesday.
Alonso missed the entire 2014 season with the Buffalo Bills after tearing his left ACL, and was traded to Philadelphia this offseason. In his only full game as an Eagle, Alonso had an acrobatic interception and one of the highlights of the year.
Furthermore, the Eagles' other starting inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks was also on the practice field on Wednesday. Kendricks injured his hamstring against the Cowboys. He tried to give it a go in Week 4 against the Redskins, but left the game early and has not played since.
Even without Alonso and Kendricks, the Eagles' defense has not missed a beat, in large part to the play of rookie insider linebacker Jordan Hicks. The Eagles are allowing just 18.3 points per game, sixth best in the NFL. Their 16 takeaways are the second most.
Update: 1:50 p.m.
According to Eagles beat reporter Zach Berman, Alonso's target date to return is Nov. 8th at Dallas while Kendricks has a "chance to play" on Sunday night at Carolina.
