Kids Take a Day Off from TV, Video Games in South Philly
It's Play Day at FDR Park in South Philadelphia, thanks to our sister station 610 WIP and the city's Parks and Recreation Department.
KYW's Kim Glovas reports that kids -- and many adults -- came out to play all kinds of sports.
Play Day includes a lot of games you may never have heard of, like "stepball," but these girls know about it:
"It's a game that you throw a ball and it hits a step, and then it throws (bounces) back and another person has to catch it."
"It's like baseball and if you throw it and you catch it, like, it's an out."
Among those taking in all the action was WIP's morning man, Angela Cataldi:
"Y' know, it's all about when we were kids, we threw a ball off steps, or we cut a ball in half and played half-ball. And that's what you're seeing today."
Many people here would agree that this is one way to relive their childhood.
