Jay Lloyd's Getaway: Not Especially Athletic? Try Tubing!

BLAKESLEE, Pa. (CBS) -- There is a thrill-a-second alternative to skiing on a winter mountain getaway. Why not give tubing a whirl?

So, here you are at Jack Frost Mountain, in a reinforced rubber inner tube, about to push off for a downhill run over a snow-covered chute.

The tube will be spinning as it races toward the deceleration zone (top photo).

"I think it's fun, but a little scary," offered one woman, age 60.

Still, she knows it's a thrill that ends in a soft landing.

But what's the best part?

"The spinning, definitely!  You gotta fly down there and spin around," said a twentysomething woman.

Scott Wilson (right), who keeps a trained eye on the tubers, notes that all you need is winter clothing -– waterproof pants and jackets help.

"Try not to wear your skirt and heels," he says with just a hint of sarcasm.

At $25 for three hours, it's a great family alternative to sliding down a mountain on a pair of slats or a snowboard.
