Interview: Coleman Hell Leads A Dance Party After Hillary Goes Home

By Michael Cerio

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As Hillary Clinton wrapped up her rally in Fishtown on Wednesday night, singer Coleman Hell began his own.

Dancing was the biggest difference between the Hillary Clinton speech at The Fillmore and the Coleman Hell show that would follow upstairs in The Foundry.

Hell would bounce and shimmy through his set of enticing tunes in a way most would consider "unpresidential."

The impromptu event for Mrs. Clinton ahead of next week's PA Primary created some logistical issues for the Canadian singer, but he was happy to have the former First Lady as an opening act.

"I actually think it's just an elaborate ruse and she just wants to see my show" laughs Hell during a talk earlier in the day. "It's the only way she can do it cause she has all these bodyguards and stuff, but if she does this then she can kind of sneak in through the back and maybe watch me later."

"Or maybe Bill's into it, and he's like getting her to do this for his sake."

There's no word of if Bill or Hillary snuck upstairs, but who would fault them for being unable to resist the infectious music of Coleman Hell?

His single "2 Heads" became a irresistible dance jam on the Alternative Charts last summer, and his self-titled EP is packed with the same. The Thunder Bay Ontario crooner is readying another batch for the summer of 16.

"I went back near my hometown and I recorded all the music for this new record I made in a cabin with the doors open" Hell explains. "Just sort of like getting back in touch with the elements and this I grew up with was really inspiring to me."
