Hot, Dry Weather Fueling Brush Fires in NJ

This week's scorching weather has made things difficult for New Jersey fire fighters batting about a dozen brush fires scattered throughout the state.

The largest such fire has been burning since Sunday on the grounds of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Burlington County. Base spokeswoman Angel Lopez says the blaze had been contained, only to flare up Wednesday:

"With the weather conditions -- how dry it was and how hot it was -- and of course the winds, it sparked up again."

It is once more contained, with more than 41 hundred acres of training area scorched. What'll put the fire out? Well, a little help from Mother Nature couldn't hurt. Until then, if there's a wildfire burning near you and you have respiratory problems, stay inside.
