1 Killed, 2 Injured In Head-On Crash In East Oak Lane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An 11-year-old girl was killed and two others, including the victim's mother, were injured in head-on crash in Philadelphia Friday morning, police said.

The crash happened on Cheltenham Avenue near Old York Road in the city's East Oak Lane section.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene where it showed a Ford Mustang and a minivan that crashed head-on.

According to investigators, the Mustang, driven by a 35-year-old mom, was traveling westbound on Cheltenham Avenue when it inexplicably crossed a concrete median and crashed head-on into a minivan that was traveling eastbound.

The 11-year-old girl was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

The victim's mom was also taken to Einstein where she is listed in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the minivan was also to Einstein where they are listed in serious but stable condition.

The names of those involved in the crash have not been released.

Cheltenham Avenue was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash.

The cause of the deadly crash remains under investigation.
