Gov. Rendell: I'm Still in Demand on Campaign Trail

Despite comments from a pollster suggesting otherwise, Governor Rendell believes he's not a drag on Democrats seeking office in Pennsylvania.

KYW's Tony Romeo reports that surveys have shown Democrat Dan Onorato trailing Republican Tom Corbett in the race for governor and one pollster links Onorato's lagging fortunes to voter dissatisfaction with incumbent Governor Ed Rendell.

But Rendell says he's still in demand out on the campaign trail:

"Let me say this: Notwithstanding the Susquehanna poll, you would be amazed at how many requests I get to campaign for candidates, to write letters for candidates, to do robo calls for candidates. So somebody's polling disagrees with that."

The Susquehanna poll taken in June showed the incumbent governor still holding a positive approval rating in Philadelphia and its four suburban counties, while the rest of the state gave him an approval rating of just 24-percent. Rendell, meanwhile, says incumbents all over feel the heat when times are bad.
