Global Fusion Week Celebrates Philadelphia's Diverse Cultures
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Global Fusion Week begins in Philadelphia July 11th, leading up to an all-day festival on Penn's Landing July 16th.
Music, culture, performances, ethnic food, restaurant discounts and even fusion-themed drinks will be happening non-stop throughout Philadelphia, beginning July 11th, and ending with a daylong free Global Fusion Festival on Penn's Landing from noon until 8 July 16th. It's all celebrating Philadelphia's diverse African Diaspora, Hispanic, Caribbean and Asian cultures.
Tanya Hall, executive director of the Philadelphia Multi Cultural Affairs Congress, says, "Most people come because of the talent. They come because they want to learn about the cultures that are in Philadelphia that help to make it such a great city."
And Hall says there's a lot to learn during the festival, "We have actually surveyed many attendees. Most if not all of them have said that they learned something about their own culture, but also, equally importantly, they've learned something about somebody else's culture."
