Former Sixer Chris Webber Calls Jahlil Okafor's Situation With Team 'Totally Unfair'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Everyone seems to have a take on Jahlil Okafor's current situation with the Sixers. The rookie is in the midst of serving his first NBA suspension, a two game suspension imposed by the team following two videos that surfaced showing him fighting hecklers in Boston.

One of the main narratives being discussed is whether a lack of veteran leadership in the locker room is lending itself to reckless behavior with this young group.

Former Sixer and TNT basketball analyst Chris Webber was a guest on ESPN on Thursday and he weighed in on the situation that Okafor is in with the Sixers.

Webber characterized it as a tough spot for Okafor claiming that it has to be hard for the 19-year-old to be an instant leader on a roster that has no one for him to look up to on it. The former Sixer also emphasized that the culture of the team, when it comes to wins and losses, can not be helping either.

"I'll tell you this -- when you come from a winning program, like I did at Michigan, it was crazy because when I lost my first game, I thought it was the end of the world.

"When you lose every night, constantly, there's 20,000 fans saying you're terrible. You're the butt of all the jokes. You've lost more than 20 in a row, it's really hard to come out of that and for a lot of guys, you learn how to lose. You learn how to be a professional loser. You learn how to have low expectations."

Webber summed up how he feels about the spot Okafor is in with the Sixers by saying "I think it's totally unfair."
