Flock To Garden Store For Phlox
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Do you have any Phlox in your garden? You really should. There are the low-lying carpets of Phlox subulata often called 'Mountain Pink' (even though the blooms can be blue or white too) that produces poofy piles of flowers in early spring, blanketing banks, rock gardens, and other sunny spots - its leaves look like little needles and feel a bit prickly. Then, there are taller varieties, like Phlox stolonifera, with five-petalled flowers standing about 10 inches high - it's also called 'creeping phlox' since it spreads to create a nice, soft, semi-evergreen groundcover. And there's also lots of phlox that blooms all summer too!
Plus, these are native plants, so they're not only easy to grow, they'll also welcome beautiful birds and butterflies to your yard as a bonus. From white to pink to incredibly intense indigo blues and purples, Phlox flowers are simple yet stunning - so plan on planting plenty!
