Dozens Run For Shane Montgomery In Manayunk

By Hadas Kuznits, Steve Patterson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Dozens of people participated in a 5K run on Saturday to bring attention to 21-year-old West Chester University student Shane Montgomery, who disappeared early Thanksgiving Day.

"Wherever he's at, when he finds out there's a 5K in his honor, he's either A, gonna be mad or laugh," says this runner and a friend of Shane's.

Karen Montgomery, Shane's mother, says the 5K run was organized by Goal's Fitness in Manayunk. Each year the organization hosts a Jingle Bell Run with proceeds going to a local charity.  This year, donations were made to the Help Find Shane Fund:

"Last year I think there may have been between 30 and 40 people and this year there were between 90 and 100 people," Karen says.

Montgomery and her husband have not yet returned to their jobs as they search for Shane:

"I won't stop looking until I find him and bring him home."

Shane's Uncle, Kevin, was also there Saturday and provided an update on the search:

"They were out again yesterday, a marine unit was out, they had the helicopter back up in the air on Thursday. Apparently they have not given up."

And if there was a theme Saturday it was just that: not giving up.

All of the proceeds went to keeping the investigation, search and hope alive.
