Doylestown Residents Come Out For Country's Oldest Memorial Day Parade

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - The backdrop couldn't have been any more perfect for what's believed to be the country's oldest Memorial Day Parade in Doylestown, Bucks County. This parade has been going on for more than 145 years.
The crowd seemed larger this year, perhaps drawn out of their homes by the blue skies and warm temperatures. Thousands lined the streets of the borough to take in the sounds and the sights of the parade, everything from high school marching bands to hand-decorated floats.
But the message of the day wasn't lost, at least not on Kenny Bauer, who marched with the Travis Manion Foundation.
"It was very special to see all the spectators standing up and giving us a great round of applause. Obviously they weren't cheering for us, but cheering for the people whose signs we carried in memory of them."
As the parade passed the courthouse, many reflected on the banners that adorn the light posts outside the building remembering the Bucks County soldiers who gave their lives defending our freedom.
