Apparent Murder-Suicide In Lawncrest Neighborhood Under Investigation
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting in the city's Lawncrest neighborhood Saturday evening.
At about 6:45 p.m., police were called out to the baseball field at the Lawncrest Recreational Center in the 5900 block of Rising Sun Avenue for a shooting.
When police arrived, they found a 31-year-old Hispanic male and 28-year-old Hispanic female, each with a single gunshot wound.
Police say the male shot the female once in the upper torso, then shot himself n the head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. According to authorities, it appears the two were in a relationship. Witnesses say they heard the couple arguing.
"I have kids that come up here everyday; I used to come up here everyday. It's crazy, I would never consider something like that happening here," said Jason, a witness.
Police are investigating this shooting as a murder-suicide.
